Baseball Banquet & Auction Set For Feb. 6

The 2016 Bearkat Baseball Banquet and Auction has been set for Saturday, February 6 at the Lowman Student Center (LSC) Ballroom on the campus of Sam Houston State University.
The event, which benefits the Sam Houston baseball program, will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 6 o'clock and is followed by the live auction at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets are on sale for $100/person, with tables of 10 available for $1,000, by calling (936) 294-4758 or by contacting events@shsu.edu. Business attire is encourage for attendance and tickets are available through Friday, January 29.
Sam Houston welcomes 28 newcomers to a program that has received an NCAA Tournament bid six of the past eight seasons. Under first-year head coach Matt Deggs, the Bearkats advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament championship game.
The Bearkats, who received votes in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper preseason poll, open the season February 19 at No. 6 Louisiana-Lafayette. Sam Houston's home opener is February 23 against UTSA at 6:30 p.m. and begins seven straight at home including visits from No. 39 Texas Tech (Feb. 24), Oklahoma (Feb. 26-28), Baylor (March 1) and No. 20 Rice (March 2).
