Walk-On Tryout Tuesday Feb. 2 at Bowers Stadium

A walk-on tryout for the 2016 Sam Houston football team will be held Tuesday, February 2, at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
The Bearkat football team has earned five consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championship playoff berths, reaching the FCS semifinals four of those five appearances.
The walk-on tryout will begin with a meeting in the team meeting room on the bottom floor of the Ron Mafridge Field House at Bowers Stadium.
Walk-on candidates must bring cleats, clothes to work out in and a copy of their class schedule for the spring. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the tryout will begin at 10 a.m.
In order to tryout, an individual must:
• Must currently be enrolled in 12 hours at SHSU.
• Must bring proof of current health insurance.
• Must bring current physical (taken within one year of try-out date).
• Must have a Sickle-Cell Test/Waiver
• Must be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Candidates may bring the physical to the SHSU Athletic Training office to get it approved before the tryout if they wish. To get a current physical, candidates may call the SHSU Health Center for an appointment at (936) 294-1805.
