
Briscoe Named to STATS FCS Watch List

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – After being named the STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sam Houston State quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe received another honor as STATS FCS named him to its national Offensive Player of the Year watch list.
Briscoe became the Bearkat starting quarterback entering this season and has led the Kats to the top-rated offense in the nation, averaging 632.7 yards per game. The junior currently leads the Southland and ranks second in FCS with an average of 368.2 yards per game, while throwing for 16 touchdowns to just two interceptions.
He had a record-setting day in his most recent outing, completing 25 of 33 attempts on Saturday against Stephen F. Austin for 438 yards and a school-record seven touchdowns, becoming the first 400-yard passer for the Kast since 2009.
Briscoe and the Bearkats will next be in action on Saturday when they travel to San Antonio for a 6 p.m. meeting with Incarnate Word. The game will be aired live on ESPN3.
