HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Sam Houston State head men's basketball coach Jason Hooten announced the signing of Devin Jackson to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday.
Jackson spent last season at Paris Junior College where he averaged 13.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists for the Dragons. The 6-2, 175-pound guard ranked second in all of junior college basketball with 112 made 3-point buckets, hitting 43.4 percent from behind the arc and 45.5 percent overall from the floor.
“Devin's probably one of the best junior college shooters in the country,” Hooten said on Wednesday. “He can really, really shoot it and will remind a lot of people of Corey Allmond who had a great career here. He's a good fit for us and will be able to step in immediately and take up some slack from some of the guys that we are losing. He's a true game changer with his way to stretch the defense.”
An explosive scorer for the Dragons, Jackson posted 17 games last year with double-digit scoring, including a 36-point outburst against Panloa that included nine threes.
He played his prep ball at Aldine Nimitiz High School where he earned first team all-District 18-6A honors as a senior.
