Volleyball Adds Five For 2017

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Sam Houston State head volleyball coach Brenda Gray has announced the addition of five student-athletes to the Bearkat roster as part of the fall signing period.
Courtney Littlefield (Tomball, Texas / SATCH), Ashley Lewis (Houston, Texas / Langham Creek HS), Jordan Kiley (McKinney, Texas / Boyd HS), Caroline Sheaff (Willis, Texas / SATCH) and Madilyn Miles (Mont Belvieu, Texas / Barbers Hill HS) make up the signing class that add to the roster for the 2017 season.
Courtney Littlefield • MB • 6-3 • Tomball, Texas • Homeschool (SATCH)
Littlefield has put together a successful prep career as one of the top players in the state coming out of the homeschool ranks. Her homeschool team, SATCH, has claimed the last three NCHVC national championships while her TAV Houston club team took this year's national title.
At 6-3, the future Bearkat middle blocker, has earned all-America and all-region honors each of the last three years. She was the MVP of the 2016 Living Stones Tournament and led SATCH to Gold Ball championships in 2014 and 2015 as well as a 5A national championship in 2015.
Ashley Lewis • OH • 6-0 • Houston, Texas • Langham Creek HS
Lewis averaged 4.43 kills per set in 2016 for LCHS on her way, hitting .325 with 59 total blocks and 253 digs in helping Langham Creek to a share of the district title and a berth in the regional quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
She was recently named the Attacker of the Year for District 17-6A and for her career she has totaled nearly 1,000 kills, over 1,100 digs and 162 blocks and has led her high school squad to the playoffs each of the past two seasons. She was a first team all-district choice and varsity captain as a junior with likely postseason honors to come in 2016.
Also an academic all-district choice and member of National Honors Society, Lewis played her club ball for Houston Skyline Juniors, winning the 17 Roshambo Royal Skyline Award in 2015-16.
Jordan Kiley • OH • 6-0 • McKinney, Texas • Boyd HS
Kiley led McKinney Boyd HS to a district title and to the regional tournament of the state playoffs in 2015 and has been named an all-district selection each of the last two seasons. That includes a first team nod as a senior in 2016. She was named the top offensive player at the Circle of Champions Tournament and has stood out in the classroom as well, ranking in the top 10 percent of her class of 698 and earning academic all-district honors all four years.
She has been active on the club scene as well, earning MVP honors for Dallas Skyline in both 2014 and 2015. She was tops on the team in kills and was named the division MVP in 2015, leading Skyline to a 16U national championship in the USA Division.
Caroline Sheaff • RS • 6-1 • Willis, Texas • Homeschool (SATCH)
A four-year letterwinner for SATCH, Sheaff was a teammate of fellow Bearkat signee Courtney Littlefield for SATCH. She started all four years for coach Luis Gomez, earning all-America honors each of the past three years in leading SATCH in hitting percentage (.344) and digs. She finished with 1,546 kills in her career, along with 385 service aces, 187 blocks and 1,817 digs.
She helped lead SATCH to each of the past three NCHVC Homeschool National Championships, helping post a 69-12 record in that time. Sheaff also spent time on the club scene with TAV 17's and Texas Diamonds, helping TAV 17's finish third in the Junior Olympics.
Madilyn Miles • S • 5-10 • Mont Belvieu, Texas • Barbers Hill HS
Miles will join the Bearkats after leading Barbers Hill HS twice to the regional semifinals of the Texas state playoffs. She was a team captain for the Eagles each of the last two years, earning all-district honors and was recently recognized as the District 21-5A Setter of the Year.
Also named to the GHVCA Fab 50 Preseason team in 2016 and the Baytown Sun Super 25 Team in 2015, Miles been is also a TSWA all-state honoree as well as earning an academic all-district nod each of the last two years.
