Galbreath Again Named SLC Player Of The Week

FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State forward Chris Galbreath Jr. has been named the Southland Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week, per an announcement from league officials on Monday.
The junior from Chicago, Ill., is the first league player to win multiple weekly honors from the league this season and does so after averaging a double-double in two Bearkat wins over Sul Ross and North Texas last week.
Galbreath has seen his numbers spike over the last two weeks, averaging 18.0 points and 8.7 rebounds in three games during that span. Last week he put up 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in the two victories, while shooting .545 from the field.
He started off his week with a 12-point, 9-rebound effort in a 22-point win over Sul Ross in just 17 minutes of work. He backed that up with 16 points and 13 rebounds on Saturday in a 76-70 win over North Texas, with 12 points and 10 rebounds of those totals coming in the second half.
Galbreath is averaging 9.6 points and 6.0 rebounds for the season, while shooting at a.494 clip from the floor.
The Bearkats have won five of their last six games overall and will be looking to move to 7-0 at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum tonight when they host Randall.
