No. 24 Texas A&M Defeats Kats 8-0 Wednesday

Behind a one-hit pitching performance by Samantha Show, No. 24 ranked Texas A&M defeated Sam Houston 8-0 in a non-conference softball contest before 1,268 fans at the Aggie Softball Complex Wednesday night.

Show struck out three of the 16 batters she faced. Shortstop Ashley Goetz picked up the only hit for the Bearkats with a shot up the middle in the top of the second inning. Goetz was sacrificed to second base but was thrown out trying to steal third.

First baseman Codi Carpenter and designated player Katie Doerre were the only Bearkats to get on base. Both were walked.

Sam  Houston pitchers Brooke Seneshen and Lindsey McLeod limited the Aggies to six hits. Seneshen took the loss, her first of the year. She faced 25 batters. McLeod pitched in the fifth inning.

Texas A&M now stands 5-1 for the season, a record that includes a win over No. 7 UCLA last weekend.

The Bearkats open their home schedule Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against Prairie View A&M. The Sam Houston softball team also will play host to Baylor next Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
