
Bowlers Rank High In NCAA Stats

Rolling up a dual match record of 102 victories and only 47 losses the Sam Houston women's bowling team tied the program record for most victories in one season during its 2015-16 campaign.
The victory total stands as the second highest by any team in NCAA Division I bowling this year. Vanderbilt, a squad that Sam Houston eliminated in the knock-out second round at the NCAA Championships in North Brunswick, N. J., posted 105 victories. NCAA runner-up Nebraska totaled 100 wins.
Sam Houston's 102 dual match victories equals their total during the 2012-13 season, the Bearkats' third year of competition. In the program's six seasons, the Sam women have totaled 541 dual match victories.
According to statistics released by the NCAA this week, Sam Houston ranked in the top five in all women's bowling statistical categories. The Bearkats led the nation with a 200.6 pin fall total in baker matches. The Sam women stood fourth with a traditional team match average of 197.8 and were fifth in bracket match play pin totals with a 198.8 average.
Seventy-five on the Bearkats' 102 victories this year came over teams ranked in the top 25 in National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) rankings. Sam Houston posted a record of 40 victories and only 27 losses to top 10 teams.
Participating in 11 regular season tournament, Sam Houston took first place at the Tulane Invitational and in the TRACK Kat Klash team baker tournament and posted five other runner-up finishes including the highly competitive Southland Bowling Conference championships in New Orleans.
