
Kayla Jones, Addison Miller Join Kats

Kayla Jones from Archbishop Chapelle High School in Kenner, La., and Addison Miller from Prosper High School in Texas are new additions to the 2016 roster for the Sam Houston volleyball team.
Jones, a 5-6 left-hander who played all positions in high school, earned All-District honors four years in a row and was All-State in Louisiana as a junior and senior. As a sophomore and a senior she helped lead Archbishop Chapelle to the state semifinals and was a starter on a state quarterfinalist her junior season.
A National Honor Society member and All-Academic selection, Jones played for Krewe Volleyball Club from ages 13 to 17 and NoLA Volleyball Club as an 18-year-old. She played for the East squad in the Louisiana All-Star game.
Kayla also played basketball, tennis and participated in swimming.
Miller, a 5-8 libero, posted 462 digs, 38 aces and 29 assists as a senior in 2015 as her team earned its second consecutive district co-championship. She helped lead Prosper to the state finals in 2013 and the regional finals in 2014. She was named as District 10-5A “Newcomer of the Year” in 2014 and as a first team all-district selection as a senior.
She played club volleyball for the Texas Titans national teams ages 14, 15 and 16; Excel national team 17's and TAV 18 Black. She also played basketball and softball, ran track and was a cheerleader.
“We're excited to have both Kayla and Addison joining the program as freshman this fall,” Sam Houston head coach Brenda Gray said. “Both bring outstanding athletic and academic credentials to the program.”
