Kelsey Rosenbaum, a sophomore from Houston, is the winner of the “Grow the Growl” attendance initiative for Sam Houston intercollegiate athletics.
Rosenbaum's named was selected in a random drawing. He will receive a $2,500 scholarship courtesy of the College of Criminal Justice.
To be eligible to win the “Grow the Growl” grand prize, Sam Houston students had to attend four select “Grow the Growl” home athletic events during the 2016 spring semester.
The first event, sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and Mass Communication, was the Sam Houston women's basketball game versus Abilene Christian January 21. The contest drew the largest student attendance at a women's basketball game this season. Other events included a men's and women's basketball doubleheader sponsored by Recreational Sports, Student Money Management and Bearkat OneCard; a softball contest sponsored by Student Legal Services and a baseball game sponsored by SHSU Online.
Following the final “Grow the Growl” event at the baseball game with Abilene Christian April 22, the students eligible for the grand prize were all included in the drawing.
Rosenbaum will receive his prize at a special presentation before Sam Houston's football home opener versus Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium.
