
Kylie Hambleton named soccer MVP

Kylie Hambleton received recognition as “Most Valuable Player” for the 2015 Bearkat soccer team that rolled up its best record in program history and reached the Southland Conference tournament championship finals.
The senior from Katy / Seven Lakes has been a four-year starter and three-time all-league selection as Sam Houston's goalkeeper.
Hambleton was one of five fall sports student-athletes plus an athletic trainer and team manager were recognized as their team's “Most Valuable Players” during Sam Houston's fourth annual “Night of Champions” celebration Sunday night at the James and Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center.
Claire Kilpatrick was selected as volleyball “Most Valuable Player.” The junior from Arlington / Martin played a major role defensively for the Bearkat squad that reached the semifinals of the 2015 Southland tournament. Kilpatrick ranked third in the Southland Conference in digs with a 4.24 average, playing in every match as Sam Houston's libero.
Olivia Olguin was named as women's cross country “Most Valuable Athlete.” The junior from Arlington / Martin High School was Sam Houston's top finisher at the 2015 NCAA regionals with a 6,000 meter time of 21:32.4. Olguin also paced the Kats at the Southland Conference championships with the team's top time of 22:56.3
Chris Speaks earned honors as men's cross country “Most Valuable Athlete.” The junior Coldspring product led the Bearkat emn at the 2015 NCAA regionals with a 10,000 meter mark of 31:47.0.
Jared Johnson was named as the football teams “Most Valuable Player” after earning first team All-Southland quarterback honors and being named Southland Conference “Offensive Player of the Year.” The 2015 Bearkats reached the NCAA playoff semifinals for the fourth time in five years.
Alysia Winn earned honors as Sam Houston student athletic trainer of the year and Irene Gomez was selected as the Bearkats' student manager of the year.
