The Sam Houston State volleyball team got off on the right foot, starting the Tulane Green Wave Classic with a dominant 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-17, 25-22) against Bethune-Cookman in the first of three matches this weekend from Delvin Fieldhouse.
The Bearkats (2-2) helped Bethune-Cookman (0-5) to a .076 hitting percentage while being led offensively by Brooke White's 15 kills and Taylor Cunningham's nine kills. Jaclyn Ward added 19 assists while Michelle Griffin notched 14.
Sam Houston's defense flexed its muscle in the second set, holding Bethune-Cookman to a .000 hitting percentage. In the fame, White and Jordyn Vaughn each posted five kills while Claire Kilpatrick recorded a pair of service aces.
