NEW ORLEANS, La. – After playing at Johnson Coliseum for the first time since late November on Saturday, Sam Houston State finds itself in familiar territory once again.
The Bearkats hit the road for two straight beginning with a visit to UNO on Thursday in the squad's fourth Southland Conference outing. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. from Lakefront Arena and fans can listen to the broadcast online courtesy of ksam1017.com.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UNO
Sam Houston is seeking its fifth straight victory against the Privateers and own the overall series 4-1 since the two teams began playing in 2010. A season ago, the Bearkats knocked off UNO 64-52, outscoring the Privateers 23-10 in the second quarter to build a nine-point halftime lead.
The Bearkats are 2-1 in three visits to Lakefront Arena, posting wins in 2014 and 2015. The city of New Orelans was also the site of Sam Houston's lone WNIT appearance, a 2013 first-round loss to Tulane.
LAST TIME OUT
The Kats shot a season-high 42 percent and trailed by as little as four points with six minutes remaining but could not come any closer, falling 66-59 to Nicholls on Saturday.
Sam Houston forward Lydia Baxter registered her second double-double of the season while freshman guard Jenniffer Oramas matched her season-high for points (18) and set new personal bests for assists (4) and field goals (7) in 27 minutes of action.
Kiera McKinney put home her first double-digit performance with 11 points and added her 18th block of the season. The freshman forward ranks tied for 16th nationally among freshmen with 1.38 blocks per game.
