HUNTSVILLE, Texas – There is no team in the Southland Conference hotter than the Sam Houston State Bearkats and on Saturday the Kats will put their six-game win streak on the line when they host Southeastern Louisiana at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Sam Houston has been perfect since the calendar turned to 2017, picking up wins in each of their six games since opening up conference play with consecutive defeats to Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas. That run has brought the Kats back to within a half-game of the top spot in the league with Saturday's game marking the midway point of SLC play.
Meanwhile, Southeastern has been one of the surprises of the league this season, starting off Southland play with wins in five of its first seven games before falling on Wednesday night to Northwestern State, snapping a 16-game home win streak for the Lions.

The Kats are 26-15 all-time against Southeastern and are currently riding a 5-game win streak against the Lions. That includes winning 10 of the last 11 and 13 of the last 15 dating back to the 2005-06 season. Southeastern's last win in Huntsville came in the 2007-08 season with Sam winning the last five meetings at Johnson Coliseum.
