HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats hosted their annual Pro Day on Wednesday, welcoming NFL scouts to Bowers Stadium where nine Bearkats were able to show off their skills as a final impression prior to the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft.
Defensive linemen Mouf Adebo, James DeLaRosa and Codie Brooks all participated in Pro Day, in addition to defensive backs Darion Flowers, Courtland Fort and Tyrel Stokes. Tight ends Deon Hutchinson and Collin Rison also took part along with offensive lineman Curtis Riser.
All participants took part in a variety of tests and drills, similar to what is done at the NFL Combine. Weather in the area forced the beginning of the day indoors at the Ron Randleman Strength & Fitness Center where the players tested in the broad jump and vertical leap before shifting to the bench press where Brooks and Hutchinson stood out, busting out 30 and 29 repetitions of the 225-pound weight.
The action then moved its way to the Bowers Stadium turf where the players demonstrated their skills in speed and agility. All players took part in pro-agility and three-cone drills before lining up for the 60-yard shuttle run. The testing then concluded with all players getting a pair of runs at the 40-yard dash. Courtland Fort measured well, broad jumping 10-9 and setting the pace with a 4.48 unofficial mark in the 40.
