HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State soccer has added another piece for the upcoming 2017 season as Tyler Junior College goalkeeper Christina Hendershot joins the program, head coach Tom Brown announced Wednesday.
Hendershot, who joins Tyler teammate Carlota-Suarez Crespo with the Bearkats, helped the Apaches to the NJCAA National Tournament Final, leading the program to 20 victories in her 25 starts.
The incoming junior boasted a 1.02 goals against average and received NJCAA Region 14 Honorable Mention honors and was NJCAA All-Academic Second Team.
Hendershot attended College Station High School where she was a teammate of current Sam Houston sophomore forward Lexi Bullard and was named First-Team All-State and First-Team All-District as a senior.
“We are excited that Christina will be with our team this year,” Brown said. “She has played in some high pressure games helping her team reach the NJCAA National Final last season. I feel that she can come in and compete to help make us better right away. Her past teammates Carlota and Lexi will be able to help her integrate into the team easily.”
