New food options on display at Bowers

HUNTSVILLE – With a new season on the horizon and a highly anticipated top-10 matchup just over a week away, fans can expect several new concessions options at Bowers Stadium this fall.
In addition to the usual offerings from concession stands on both the east side and west side concourses, fans will also have the option to visit the Grill Kitchen Tent on the northwest side of Bowers, which will feature:
- Fresh grilled hamburgers, cheeseburgers and combo plates
- Grilled link Polish sausage
- Grilled beer bratwursts with onions and peppers
- Grilled chicken sandwich
- BBQ slow roasted pulled pork sandwiches and combo plates
- Soft drinks, water and sports drinks
- Chips and candy
On the southwest side of the stadium, for the first game, fans can indulge in Cajun cuisine including:
- Chicken and sausage gumbo - 16 oz. bowl with lid ($5)
- Cajun Stick - spicy boiled shrimp and 3" sausage link on a stick ($7)
- Soft drinks, water and sport drinks
Fans will have the opportunity to sample a diverse selection of food option at the southwest corner over the course of the season. The additions will offer several new food options at the Bearkats' six home games this fall, while also helping enhance the fan experience by alleviating congestion on the main concourse area.
Sam Houston opens the 2017 season one week from Sunday as the nation's third-ranked team per STATS FCS. The ranking marks the fifth time in the last six seasons the Bearkats will start in the top five of the poll.
The Kats will face No. 7 Richmond with kickoff slated for 6 p.m. presented by KSAM and Suddenlink. Sam Houston is the preseason favorite to repeat as Southland Conference champions, collecting each of 20 possible first-place votes from the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
