HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will look to even up their record on Monday night when they host Wiley College at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The game will be aired on ESPN+ and the ESPN app with Matt Pedersen on the broadcast. Live stats will also be available while updates can be received by following @BearkatsWBB on Twitter. An audio broadcast will also be available by tuning into KSHU 90.5 FM.
SERIES vs WILEY COLLEGE
The Bearkats and Wildcats are tied 1-1 in the all-time series with both games having been played in Huntsville. Wiley pulled off a 17-point win during the 2014-15 season before SHSU made up for that a year ago with a convincing win with a game-high 14 points from Rachel Harrell. It was the largest margin of victory for the Kats in 17 seasons and stayed that way until the Kats' 45- point win over Jarvis Christian just last week.

- Sam Houston trailed by just four at the half then held the lead a pair of times in the third quarter. The Kats were still tied with the Shockers, 39-39, with a minute to play in the third period before WSU went on a 7-0 run to close the quarter and eventually build up a double-digit lead that it would not relinquish.
- Sam Houston forced 24 turnovers for the game, including taking away 17 steals, which was the most by a Bearkat team since the Kats had 18 steals in the 2010-11 season opener against Southeast Missouri State. The bulk of the Kats' swipes against the Shockers came from Jaylonn Walker and La'Sha Haynes who had six steals apiece.
- Dominique Maxwell finished with 10 points against the Shockers, marking the third straight game for her to score exactly 10 points to open the season. She only reached double figures in scoring one time in all of 2017-18, when she scored 10 points in the 2017-18 season opener at Arkansas.
- The Kats got a spark off the bench from a pair of returning posts at WSU as Lydia Baxter and Kiera McKinney combined for 14 points. All six of Baxter's points came in the third quarter when the Kats were able to take the lead, while McKinney delivered six points in the second quarter off the bench. The junior from Amarillo also added five boards and two blocks.
- Coach Ravon Justice's addition of La'Sha Haynes from her days at Prairie View is working out so far for the Kats. In addition to her six steals against the Shockers, Haynes added a team-high eight rebounds. She's averaging 7.0 rebounds per game and has led the Kats on the glass in each of its two games against D1 opponents
