Football season tickets on sale April 12

HUNTSVILLE - Since 2011 the Sam Houston State University Bearkat football team has gone through an unprecedented period of success. Over the past seven years the Bearkats have advanced to the playoffs and made two FCS National Championship appearances. During this same period the athletic department's expenses have also nearly doubled.
“A championship team comes with many costs. To be able to continue building on the success we've established we've had to make some modifications in our ticket prices,” said Bobby Williams, director of athletics.
SHSU will introduce a new tiered pricing structure for the upcoming Bearkat football season and single game tickets. Season tickets are scheduled to go on sale starting April 12. Season ticket holders will be contacted with information on the new pricing structure, the cost of their tickets and all of the benefits that come with being a season ticket holder. Last year's holders will have the opportunity to renew the same seat(s) they previously held.
Under the new tiered pricing structure SHSU is able to keep season tickets at an affordable rate, so every fan will still be able to continue to buy season tickets.
“It's imperative for us to make sure that we provide options to accommodate everyone who wants to be a part of the new season. We need our fans. There's no better experience for our players than to be in the stadium surrounded by fellow Bearkats, standing tall for their team,” Williams said.
The new pricing also puts SHSU more in line with college football pricing structures around the nation. For many years, SHSU has charged the same amount for season tickets on the goal line as the 50 yard line.
To further accommodate the budgets of all fans a customized payment plan, spreading the cost over the course of four months can be set up through the ticket office at (936) 294-1729.
