HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will try to add another quality win to their resume on Tuesday when they head to Sugar Land to take on the Houston Cougars in the finale of the Don Sanders Cup series at Constellation Field.
The Bearkats are riding a five-game win streak and are coming off a three-game sweep on the road at McNeese over the weekend, while the Cougars enter Tuesday's clash having won six of their last seven games after a big weekend sweep at No. 7 East Carolina last weekend.

Sam Houston split a pair of midweek games with the Cougars just two weeks ago, falling to the Coogs at Schroeder Park before returning the favor one night later with a win at The Don. With a win the Kats will be looking to maintain its hold on the Don Sanders Cup after sweeping the series from Houston in 2017.
It will be a familiar venue for the Kats at Constellation Field, a site that has hosted the Southland Conference Tournament in four of five years since 2013 and will be the site of the 2018 tournament as well. The Kats are 12-3 under head coach Matt Deggs in games played in Sugar Land, including a 9-1 mark over the past two seasons.
Sam Houston strengthened its hold first place in the Southland Conference with its weekend sweep of the Cowboys in a series that saw the Kats never trail and hold a lead for 25 of 27 games played. Each of Sam Houston's three starters picked up wins in the series, while Clayton Harp and Jack Rogers each turned in big games at the plate in the series bookends.
