ARLINGTON -- The Sam Houston State volleyball season came to an end on Friday night in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) loss to UTA in the second round of the NIVC.

In the opening game, the Kats had the match tied four times, including scoring four straight points to even it at 16. But UTA took the lead right back, with the Kats only getting within a point once at 22-21. 

The Kats were in position to take Game 2, leading 21-19 after a kill by Ashley Lewis. But UTA won six of the last eight points to take the game 25-23. 

In Game 3, the Lady Mavs built and early lead and after the Kats tied up matters at 11, UTA rolled off six straight points and didn't look back, taking the decisive game 25-19.

Ashley Lewis led the way for the Kats with 13 Kills while Samantha Rodgers finished with 12. Breanne Chausse totaled 11 kills while leading the team with a .391 attack percentage. Janda Morgan finished with 21 assists. 

As a team, the Kats hit .151 with 42 kills on 119 attempts with 24 errors. 

The Kats finish the year 19-14, totaling three wins in the postseason, including two in the Southland Tournament to go along with Thursday night's win over Houston.
