Kats wrap up spring football practice

HUNTSVILLE - The Sam Houston State football team closed spring practice Friday evening with a productive outing at Bowers Stadium.
Instead of a traditional spring game due to injuries, the Bearkats followed a practice format, mainly working on situational drills. About 300 fans attended the session, which lasted about 90 minutes.
“It's hard when you have a spring game and can't have a live contest when you are keeping score, but we couldn't do that with our health situation,” head coach K.C. Keeler said. “But tonight was good. I thought we did some really good things. I thought the whole spring we kept getting better.

Two special honors were also handed out to a pair of seniors.
Former safety Adrian Contreras was awarded the Stan Blinka Scholarship. Contreras graduated with a bachelors in BBA/Accounting in the spring of 2018 and is scheduled to complete his master's degree in accounting this year. He was named to the All-Southland Conference academic team this past season, as well as an All-SLC honorable mention selection for his play on the field.
