FORT WORTH — The Sam Houston State men's basketball team got off to another sluggish offensive start in an 86-55 loss to Boise State at Dickie's Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Bearkats (0-3) scored the first basket of the game but hit just eight of their next 22 field goals as the Broncos (1-1) took a 42-27 lead at the half.
Junior
Zach Nutall continued his hot start to the season with 22 points. Through three games, he is averaging 24 points after scoring a career-high 36 in the season opener at SMU Wednesday and 14 on the road Friday at Texas Tech.
The Bearkats opened the second half on a 6-0 run with a 3-pointer from Nutall and an old-fashion three-point play to cut the lead to 42-33. Boise responded with a 10-2 run to pull away again.
Senior
Terryonte Thomas added six points for SHSU, while junior
Manny Crump chipped in five. Senior
Demarkus Lampley scored four and junior
Tristan Ikpe scored four and grabbed five rebounds.
