Kats remain No. 2 in national poll

The Sam Houston bowlers remained No. 2 in the latest NTCA top 25 poll after three strong performances to start the spring semester.

The Kats received one first place vote and hold a firm lead over Nebraska for the second spot. McKendree remained the No. 1 team, receiving 32 of the 35 first-place votes.

The Kats sit at 55-21 on the season, and are coming off a runner up finish at the PVU Invitational this past weekend in Arlington. It was the third tournament in three straight weekends for the Bearkats.

"We knew this was going to be a tough stretch, to open the spring with competitions the first three weekends of the year," said head coach Brad Hagen. "I think we continued to do what we needed to put us in position for the NCAA championships again this season."

After Nebraska, a pair of Southland Bowling League teams follows with Vanderbilt at No. 4 and Arkansas State is No. 5.

The Bearkats will be off this weekend before heading back out for the Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State next week. They have three regular season tournaments left before the Southland Championships March 20-22 at Time to Spare in Conroe.
