Men's track earns All-SLC honors

FRISCO — The Sam Houston State men's track and field team landed five individuals and a relay team on the 2020 All-Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field teams, the league announced Friday.

Sophomore Jo'Vaughn Martin was a first-team selection for winning the gold medal at the SLC indoor championships Sunday and Monday in Birmingham, Alabama in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.97 seconds. He was also a third-team honoree for taking the bronze in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.80.

Senior Joshua Smith was a second-team selection for winning the silver in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.97, and junior Andrew Bosquez also was a second-team honoree after he claimed silver in the mile run with a mark of 4:15.03.

Junior Zach Johnson earned second-team honors with a second-place finish in the long jump, while freshman Cobe Graham was a third-team selection with a bronze in then shot put.

The 4x400-meter relay team of senior Ethan Woods, freshman Cameron Brown, junior Joe Austin III and Smith also took the bronze to earn third-team All-SLC honors as well.
