HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston State tennis team swept through singles play to take down Incarnate Word 6-1 in a Southland Conference dual match at the McAdams Tennis Center Sunday.
The Bearkats improved to a perfect 4-0 mark in SLC and are 9-4 overall on the season. Sam Houston State has won five matches in a row.
After dropping the doubles point 2-0, the Kats cruised in singles play with
Constandena Nicolaou tying the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Saras Djurdjevic in No. 3 singles.
Sahaja Yamalapalli easily won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0 over Alejandra Landaluce, while
Roos Gerritsen put SHSU up 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kinga Psut in the No. 5 spot.
Freshman
Emma Goedkoop knocked off Taylor Parkinson 6-1, 6-3 in No. 4 singles action, and
Isidora Zivkovic won her No. 2 match 6-0, 7-6 (1).
The Bearkats took the No. 6 singles point by default.
Sam Houston State returns to action Friday when the Bearkats travel to Stephen F. Austin for a 1 p.m. match.
