Nutall earns second SLC weekly honor

FRISCO — After two spectacular performances that kept the Sam Houston men's basketball unbeaten in Southland Conference play, junior guard Zach Nutall has been named the league's Player of the Week.

Nutall averaged 30.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a pair of victories over Lamar and Houston Baptist as the Bearkats improved to 5-0 in SLC action. This is the second time this season and, in his career, Nutall has received the conference's weekly honor.

He began the week with a double-double by scoring 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 96-71 victory over Lamar on Jan. 13. The league's leading scorer capped the week by scoring his 1,000-career point with a 33-point, nine-rebound performance in an 87-80 win over Houston Baptist on Jan. 16.

For the week, Nutall shot 68.7 percent (22 of 32) from both the floor and from behind 3-point range (11 for 16).
