ARLINGTON – On Saturday at the ITRC in Arlington, the Sam Houston bowlers did just enough to enter bracket play at the PVU Invitational in the championship bracket as the No. 4 seed.

Despite posting a record of 4-6 over the first two days of the tournament, the Kats had the fourth most total pins over the 10 matches and will face the No. 3 seed Youngstown State in a best-of-7 match.

The Bearkats 176 pin win over Nebraska in the final match on Friday proved to be the difference, as they edged the Cornhuskers by 14 pins to get into the top 4 and put themselves into position to win the tournament.

Individually, the Kats were led by Denise Blankenze who posted a 212 average and finished 5^th overall. She opened the day with a 244 which was the top score of the day for Sam Houston.

The Kats posted wins against Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech on Saturday after knocking off Nebraska and Texas Southern on Friday.
