Football walk-on tryouts set for January 21

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston football team has finalized its plans to hold walk-on tryouts for the 2021 spring semester.

The tryout will be held on January 21, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Bowers Stadium. Those interested in trying out for the Bearkat Football team as a walk-on must meet the following criteria to be eligible to try out:

Must have proof of negative result for COVID-19 with test administered no more than 72 hours prior to tryout
Must have proof of physical within previous 6 months prior to tryout (signed by doctor with proof of insurance)
Must be enrolled in at least 12 hours at Sam Houston during the Spring 2021 semester
Must be able to be cleared by the NCAA Eligibility Center
Must not have any classes scheduled prior to 11:00 a.m. for Spring 2021 semester

Prospective student-athletes must also complete the following information form at (https://forms.gle/WPzZHgsgmaBBwoPg8) in advance of the tryout.

A mandatory Zoom meeting is scheduled for January 19 at 10:00 a.m. with invitations to the Zoom meeting only sent to those who complete the information form in advance.

Those attending the tryout must bring own face covering and wear it throughout the entirety of the tryout.
