CONWAY, Ark. — Sam Houston continued its hot shooting to complete a three-game road sweep to open Southland Conference play with a 91-80 victory over Central Arkansas at the Farris Center Saturday afternoon.
The Bearkats (9-5, 3-0) shot 47.9 percent from the floor and knocked down 13 3-pointers to stretch their winning streak to six-straight games. Sam Houston forced 17 turnovers and turned that into 22 points while also outscoring the Bearkats (3-8, 2-1) 24-10 off the bench.

Demarkus Lampley scored a game-high 23 points. Juniors
Zach Nutall and
Donte Powers each added 19 points, and freshman
Bryce Monroe chipped in 16 points.
The Bearkats fell behind early at 14-10 in the first half, but went on an 11-0 run to take the lead for good with just over 12 minutes to go in the opening period. Sam Houston shot 50.0 percent from the floor and was eight of 19, or 42.1 percent, from long distance in the first half.
UCA took advantage of foul trouble by the Kats to cut the lead to single digits in the second half after the Bearkats led by as many 66-45 with 12:42 left in the game. SHSU was able to answer each time to hold on for the victory.
