CHICAGO — The Sam Houston soccer team scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to cruise to a 2-0 victory over Chicago State on Sunday.
The Bearkats improved to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in Western Athletic Conference action, while the Cougars fell to 1-13-1 and 1-7 in league play.
Sam Houston struck quickly when
Caitlyn McDonald scored on an assist from
Katarina Baehren in the sixth minute. It would prove to be the game-winning goal as the SHSU defense held Chicago State to just one shot on goal.
It's didn't take long for the Bearkats to get on the board again. In fact, it was less than a minute later.
McDonald scored her third goal of the season to give Sam Houston a 2-0 lead. This time
Summer Knox was in on the assist.
The Bearkats return home for their final regular season match of the season when they host Stephen F. Austin at Pritchett Field on Saturday at 2 p.m.
