Statement from Director of Athletics Bobby Williams about COVID-19 protocols at all Bearkat athletic events:

"Following the announcement by Texas Governor Greg Abbott about removing the mask requirements and capacity limitations in the state, as an athletic department, we still have to continue to work within the framework set by the NCAA, Southland Conference (which are private organizations) and Sam Houston State University.

Our athletes will continue to undergo regular COVID-19 testing to remain eligible to compete and participate in NCAA and Southland Conference sanctioned events and championships. This will help maintain a safe playing environment. As such, all Sam Houston athletic venues will continue to follow all COVID-19 protocols currently in place, including mask requirements, social distancing and capacity limitations. Please help us as we continue to navigate these truly unprecedented times so that we can continue to have fans in attendance at our venues."
