HUNTSVILLE — The Southland Conference wins keep piling up for the Sam Houston tennis team.
The Bearkats (12-2) took down Northwestern State to push their conference record to 7-0 with a 6-1 victory over the Demons (5-6, 4-4 SLC) at the McAdams Tennis Center Sunday. Sam Houston has now won eight dual matches in a row.
Junior
Sahaja Yamalapalli once again cruised to a win at No. 1 singles to improve to 13-0 on the season. The No. 110 ITA ranked player in the country defeated Mariella Minetti 6-0, 6-1 and has yet to drop a set this spring.

Karla De La Luz Montalvo (9-5) came away with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory against Viktorie Wojcikova at No. 2 singles. Sophomore
Isidora Zivkovic (10-4) defeated Dorota Szczygielska 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot, which sealed the victory for the Kats.
Senior
Constandena Nicolaou also remained unbeaten on the season at 12-0 with a 7-5, 6-0 win against Judit Castillo at No. 4 singles. Freshman
Sunskrithi Damera won her second match in a row at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Gig Kanaphuet.
Sam Houston won the doubles point and all three matches.

Andrijana Brkic got the first win, a 6-1 victory over Castillo and Wojcikova, and Yamalapalli and freshman
Sahithi Vutukuru clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win against Minetti and Greta Wallin at No. 1.
Montalvo and sophomore
Petra Kaszas won their No. 3 doubles match 7-6 against Emilija Dancetovic and Szczygielska.
The Bearkats will travel to Nacogdoches Saturday to face Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m.
