HUNTSVILLE – The FCS Playoff committee unveiled the Spring 2021 bracket on Sunday morning with the Sam Houston Bearkats being named the No. 2 seed in the 16-team tournament, hosting Monmouth at Bowers Stadium in the opening round.
Â
The Kats will host the Hawks on Saturday, April 24 at Bowers Stadium. Kickoff time is set for 11:00 a.m. and will be aired on ESPN3.
Tickets are on sale and all tickets must be purchased in advance and no walk-up sales will occur on gameday. Due to NCAA regulations, capacity at Bowers Stadium will be limited. Tickets can be purchased online at GoBearkats.com/Tickets or on the phone at 936-294-1729.
Pricing structure includes midfield reserved seats ($40), redzone ($30) and bleacher reserved ($20). Season ticket holders for the Spring 2021 season will have their seat available for playoff games and will be contacted by a Bearkat Ticket Office representative this week.Â
Â
With the No. 2 seed, the road to Frisco will go through Bowers Stadium. A win over Monmouth would mean SHSU would host the winner of Eastern Washington and North Dakota State, a first-round game that will be played in Fargo, N.D.
Â
Sam Houston is making its 12th appearance in the FCS Playoffs and its first since 2017. The Kats are 13-0 all-time in FCS Playoff games played at Bowers Stadium while head coach K.C. Keeler is 27-0 in home playoff games during his coaching career that includes stops at SHSU, Delaware and Rowan (Division III).
Â
The game will be the first ever meeting between the Bearkats and Hawks. Sam Houston is 3-0 all-time against teams from the Big South and 1-0 in the playoffs, defeating Kennesaw State 34-27 in the quarterfinals of the 2017 playoffs in Huntsville.
