Lewis named to AVCA All-America team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sam Houston outside hitter Ashley Lewis was named to the AVCA All-America team on Monday, per a release by the AVCA.

Lewis earned an honorable mention nod from the AVCA after being named to the association's All-Southwest Region team as an honorable mention selection earlier this month. She is the only Southland Conference player to be named to the All-America squad.

Those honors came on the heels of Lewis becoming the fourth Bearkat to be named the Southland Conference Player of the Year after leading the Kats and ranking in the upper portion of players in the nation with 4.36 kills per set. She swung at a career-best .209 clip and also averaged 3.54 digs per set in 14 matches, finishing with 11 double-doubles.

Lewis was twice named the league's offensive player of the week and was named to the all-tournament at the Southland Tournament after averaging 4.33 kills and 3.33 digs per set in two matches, including 20 kills and 13 digs in the title match vs A&M-Corpus Christi.
