T&F competes at Rice Twilight Meet

HOUSTON — Several student-athletes from the Sam Houston men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet over the weekend.

The women's 4x100-meter relay of Jasmin Mitchell, Sylvia Freeman, Shaynea Redmond and Jemia Goree had the top time at 45.80 seconds.

The men's 4x100 relay of Eric Callaway, Bryan Henderson, Nathaniel McRae and Denzel Downing also placed first with a mark of 39.79.

Clayton Fritsch once again took the top height in the pole vault with a leap of 5.36 meters, and Rylan Olguin was third at 4.96.

Henderson was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.90, and the men's 4x400 relay of McRae, Cameron Brown, Erin Brown and Joshua Smith had the second-best time at 3:10.03.

KeAyla Dove placed second in the shot put with a toss of 15.44 meters and was seventh in the discus with a mark of 42.97.

The 4x400 relay of Haviland Harris, Freeman, Mitchell and Goree placed fourth with a time of 3:47.40.

Freeman was fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.95, and Harris had the seventh-best mark in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.21 and the eighth-best time in the 400 hurdles at 1:01.53.

In other women's field events, Morgan Janda was fifth in the high jump at 1.62 meters, and Kayla Shallenberger was seventh in the pole vault at 3.47 meters.

In other men's field events, Joshua Hamilton was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 13.56 meters. Brian Orlando was fifth in the hammer with a throw of 55.22, and Cobe Graham was eighth in the shot put at 15.80.
