HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston softball team held its own against No. 16 Louisiana, but a three-run sixth inning allowed the Ragin' Cajuns to pull away for an 8-3 victory at Bearkat Softball Complex Tuesday.
The Bearkats (8-21) rallied from a three-run deficit in the third inning to tie the game.

Megan McDonald, who recorded her 200
th career hit, both singled and came around to score when sophomore
Kyndal Kutac reached on a fielding error by the shortstop.
Freshman
Taylor Bachmeyer tied the game at 3 with a home run down the left-field line. It was her first collegiate hit.
Louisiana 28-6 broke the tie with a run in the fifth, added the three insurance runs in the sixth and tacked on one in the seventh to seal the victory.
Regan Dunn took the loss in the circle to fall to 4-6 on the season. Summer Ellyson got the win for the Ragin' Cajuns to improve to 10-4 on the year.
The Bearkats return to action with a three-game Southland Conference series on the road at Abilene Christian on Friday and Saturday.
