HOUSTON — The Sam Houston tennis team suffered its first setback of Southland Conference play, falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-3 Tuesday afternoon.
The Bearkats are now 13-3 overall and 8-1 in the SLC. The Islanders improved to 7-1 in league action and 17-2 overall.

Sahaja Yamalapalli continued her unbeaten streak at No. 1 singles. She defeated Mariya Shumeika 6-3, 6-3 to improve to 15-0 on the season and 9-0 in the SLC.

Karla De La Luz Montalvo (11-5) defeated Camille Townsend 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and teamed with sophomore
Petra Kaszas to win the Bearkats' only doubles match 6-4 against Leopoldine Boisseau and Kateryna Rublevska.
Sophomore
Isidora Zivkovic also improved to 11-5 on the season. She took down Emma Honore 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 at No. 3 singles.
The Bearkats return to action Friday when they travel to McNeese for a 2 p.m. match.
