HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston Athletics announced on Monday the return to full capacity at all athletic venues, effective immediately. The announcement comes after the University officially returned to normal, pre-pandemic operations and protocols earlier in the day.
Despite all Bearkat Athletic events on campus being concluded for the spring semester, the decision means that fans can expect full capacity at all events in the fall, including football at Bowers Stadium.
"On behalf of our coaches, teams and administration, I am so thankful to everyone for following the protocols this past spring in order allow our 17 sports to play and compete," Director of Athletics Bobby Williams said. "We are really, really excited about getting back to 100 percent capacity for our students and our fans."
Sam Houston football is coming off claiming its first FCS national championship last week and will open up the 2021 season on September 2 at Northern Arizona. The home opener for the Kats is set for September 11 vs Southeast Missouri.
The season will be the first for the Bearkats under the WAC banner as they take part, for one year in the WAC/ASUN Challenge with Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, Jacksonville State, Tarleton, Dixie State, Eastern Kentucky and Abilene Christian.
The Kats will host five games at Bowers Stadium in 2021 with season tickets already on sale. Fans can reserve their seats for the all five games now by purchasing online or calling the Bearkat Athletics Ticket Office at 936-294-1729.
Fans can choose from the options of midfield chairback reserve ($306), redzone chairback reserve ($248) or bleacher reserve ($211).
