HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston men's basketball head coach Jason Hooten has added one final addition for the 2021-22 season.

The Bearkats have signed international standout Kevin Martina, a 6-8 forward from Geneva Switzerland. Martina averaged 17.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists while recently playing for Switzerland in the FIBA U20 European Championships.

We're excited about Kevin joining our family," Hooten said. "He has been playing in some competitive games internationally for a good while now. He gives us the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting but can also handle and pass the ball very well. I'm looking forward to getting him here and start working right away."

Martina scored in double figures in all five games of the U20 European Championships. He scored 21 points and pulled down six rebounds in the semifinals against Belarus and followed it up with 28 points and five boards in a 71-53 victory over North Macedonia in the third-place game.
