Kats earn United Soccer Coaches academic award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Sam Houston soccer team has been selected as a Team Academic Award winner by the United Soccer Coaches in recognition of the Bearkats' exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year, the organization recently announced.
A total of 636 soccer teams (235 men, 401 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
Sam Houston has also received this honor in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2020-21Â academic year.
