WBB unveils 2021-22 schedule

HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston women's basketball head coach Ravon Justice announced the Bearkats' schedule for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday, with 15 games scheduled for Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

Season tickets are on sale for the season and can be purchased at GoBearkats.com or by calling the Bearkat Athletic Ticket Office at 936-294-1729. All games are scheduled to be aired either on ESPN+ or through the WAC Digital Network.

The Kats will host six non-conference games before opening up their first season as members of the WAC on December 30 at Lamar.

Justice's squad will kick off the season on November 11 against Wiley College before hitting the road for back-to-back contests at UT Arlington (11/13) and Tulsa (11/15). They then host USAO (11/17) and Hartford (11/20) before heading to Fayetteville, Ark., for a matchup with Arkansas (11/27).

Sam Houston will next host Longwood on November 30 before a tough road swing that includes road games at Louisiana Tech (12/10) and Alabama (12/13). The Kats then get a stout test at Johnson Coliseum against Rice on December 16, a team that has gone 44-12 over the past two seasons.

One final tune-up vs Arlington Baptist on December 20 closes out the non-conference slate in advance of the opener against Lamar. The Kats will then have a New Year's Day date in The Valley against UTRGV before playing its first home conference game against Tarleton on December 6.

That opens up a stretch of three straight home contests ahead of a difficult road stretch that includes games at Stephen F. Austin (1/15), New Mexico State (1/20) and Grand Canyon (1/22).

Sam Houston will play six of its final 10 games of the year at home, working a trip to Utah to face Dixie State (2/3) and Utah Valley (2/5) around a pair of home weekends. The Kats will close out February with home games vs UTRGV (2/19), SFA (2/24) and Grand Canyon (2/26) before ending the regular season at Tarleton (3/3).

The WAC Tournament will include the top 10 teams in the league, with the first round being at home sites. From there, eight teams will advance to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., for the remainder of the tournament, set for March 9-12.
