COLLEGE STATION — The Sam Houston track and field team posted three first-places finishes to open the indoor season at the Aggie Invitational in College Station on Saturday.

Senior Clayton Fritsch began his indoor season in a familiar position as the top finisher in the pole vault with a leap of 18 feet, ½ inch. Junior Devon Thomas also placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 56 feet, 4 ¾ inches.

In women's field events, freshman KeAyla Dove placed first in the shot put with a toss of 55 feet, 10 ¼ inches. Freshman Lilly Rodel was right behind her in second place with a distance of 46 feet, 5 ¼ inches.

Freshman Jackeria Woodkins finished third in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 56.40. Sophomore Tia Harry and junior Haviland Harris placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles with personal best times of 8.79 and 8.87.

Freshman Rajer Gurode placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.54. She also placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.79 just ahead of freshman teammate Aerial Williams who had a personal best of 25.29.

Junior Sasha Elizondo placed eighth in the 3,000 meters with a mark of 10:53.35. Junior Haley Thomas came in 10th in the 800 meters with a personal best of 2:33.63.

Freshman Rachel Maciejeski was third in the pole vault with a heighth of 12 feet, 6 ¼ inches and freshman Bailey Cotton was fifth with the same height.

Rodel was fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 46 feet, ¾ inch, and freshman Charlie Salinas was sixth at 44 feet, 11 ½ inches.

On the men's side, freshman Christian Rivera placed third in the mile with a time of 4:13.70, and freshman Kyan Wallace was eighth with a mark of 4:16.79.

In other field events, sophomore Cobe Graham captured third in the shot put with a toss of 53 feet, 5 ¾ inches and Kevin Grubbs was fourth with a mark of 51 feet, 8 ¼ inches.

Dylan Truss was sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 15 feet, 7 inches. Senior Joshua Hamilton was seventh in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 9 ¼ inches, freshman Bryce Barbay was eighth at 20 feet, 8 ½ inches, senior Tanner Day was ninth at 20 feet, 7 inches and freshman Jayden Allen was 10th at 20 feet, 3 ½ inches.

Hamilton was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 6 ¼ inches.
