Dyer, Baker earn all-WAC honors

ARLINGTON – Hannah Baker and Madison Dyer each earned postseason all-WAC honors on Tuesday when the league officially released its all-conference teams.

Baker earned postseason honors for the second straight season in the WAC with her nod to the all-WAC second team. Meanwhile, Dyer was one of eight freshmen named to the league's all-Freshman team.

A super sophomore from Deer Park, Baker entered 2022 with high expectations as the league's preseason Libero of the Year and lived up to the hype. She finished third in the league with 4.79 digs per set for the year, and 4.62 per set in WAC play.

Along the way she was named to the all-tournament team at three of the Bearkats' four pre-conference tournaments and was the league's Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.2 digs per set in the opening week of WAC play, a week that included a key 5-set win over rival Stephen F. Austin.

One week prior to that, Baker broke her own school record with 50 digs in a match against Tulsa, becoming the first player in the NCAA with 50 digs in a single match since 2015.

Dyer was one of the top freshmen in the league in 2022 and earned her nod onto the all-freshman team after averaging 2.56 kills and a team-best 0.94 blocks per set.

She was named to the all-tournament team at the K-State Invitational and was the WAC Defensive Player of the Week after the Kats went on the road and took matches from both Seattle U and Utah Valley.

She had a season-high 20 kills against Tulsa and 10 blocks in the win at Utah Valley before closing out the season with at least 11 kills in five of her final six matches of the year.
