HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston women's basketball team staked itself to an early lead and cruised to its first win of the season, 101-55, over Jarvis Christian on Wednesday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Four Kats (1-2), led by
Chyna Allen's 28 points, finished in double figures on a night that saw the Bearkats go over 100 points.
Kaylee Jefferson added 17 points and nine rebounds, while
Madelyn Batista had 10 points and eight boards.
Kenyal Perry added 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench and had three of Sam Houston's 10 blocks for the game.
In all, the Kats forced 24 turnovers, which were turned into 28 points in addition to 39 points off the bench.
The win is the final tune-up for the Kats before a pair of tough road tests beginning Sunday at Tulane and followed up by a game in a week at TCU.
Sam Houston will next be in action at Johnson Coliseum on November 27 when it hosts St. Mary's (TX).
