HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston volleyball rallied back to snap an 8-match losing streak with a 3-2 win over Tarleton on Thursday night at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The Kats (7-20, 4-9 WAC) looked on their way to a ninth consecutive loss when it trailed 2-0 at halftime; however, Sam Houston found its groove in the third and fourth sets before having to rally again from a 5-point deficit in Set 5 to pull out the win.
Madison Dyer continued with her impressive freshman campaign, hitting .353 with a team-best 18 kills and six blocks. She was closely followed by a huge match from
McKenzie Morvant who set a new career high with 16 kills on 34 swings (.382) and added four blocks of her own.
Additionally,
Catherine Krieger (10 kills, 10 digs) and Avery Fowler (30 assists, 12 digs) had double-doubles and
Hannah Baker piled up 27 digs.
Elizabeth See also set a new career high with eight total blocks.
The Kats will close out 2022 on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they host Abilene Christian at Johnson Coliseum. The match will serve as Senior Day for the team as they will honor graduate students Madison Frusha and Analise Lucio following the match.
