Fritsch named WAC Field Athlete of the Week

DENVER — Sam Houston senior Clayton Fritsch has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

The Sealy native won the pole vault at the Charlie Thomas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M on Friday in College Station. He recorded a season best mark of 18 feet, 2 inches that puts him first in the WAC and sixth in the NCAA performance lists according to TFRRS.

Senior Andrew Bosquez was a finalist for the Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. He turned in an impressive performance in the mile run, finishing second with a personal-best time of 4:04.93 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
