Fritsch wins bronze at NCAA indoors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Sam Houston senior Clayton Fritsch found his way to the medal stand once again.

Fritsch placed third in the pole vault with a jump of 5.65 meters at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday. He also won bronze in the pole vault at the 2019 outdoor championships.

Fritsch had the fourth-best mark in the country heading into the event following his record-setting performance at the Western Athletic Conference indoor championships. He broke the conference and meet record with a vault of 5.73 meters.

Princeton's Sondre Guttormsen and BYU's Zach McWhorter finished first and second in the pole vault, respectively.Guttormsen championship winning mark was 5.70 Â meters.
