McCartney named WAC track AOW

DENVER — Sam Houston's Daviciea McCartney has been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

McCartney, a sophomore from Mesquite, dominated the hurdles events in his division at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin over the weekend.

He won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.55 seconds that puts him first in the WAC and 20th in the NCAA performance lists. He then came back on the last day of the meet to win the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.07 seconds that placed him second in the WAC and 35th in the NCAA performance lists according to TFRRS.
