Kats sign prep star from Canada

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston head coach Jason Hooten has added another 6-4 guard from one of the premier prep schools in the country for the 2022-23 season

Anthony Wrzeszcz, who played at Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Bearkats. The Tigers played in the prestigious National Interscholastic Basketball Conference which includes the top prep schools around the country including top-ranked Montverde Academy.

"We are very happy to have Anthony join our family," Hooten said. "I saw Anthony for the first time last summer at an event in Dallas. We love his energy, toughness, and ability to play multiple positions. He has a chance to be a high-level defender and eventually a very good offensive player. I am xxcited about Anthony coming in and learning the college game."

Wrzeszcz, a native of Poland who lives in Toronto, Ontario has been invited to participate in the BioSteel All Canadian games where the 24 best high school players from Canada play against each other in a talent showcase.

He is also going to play for the Polish national team and was also a standout for the Canada Elite AAU program which competes on the Under Armour circuit.
